Students at Orientation The program which was the first in the series slated for this year created a platform for both students and instructors to share concerns. It was also aimed at creating awareness among the new entrants to know what is ahead of them. The students were taken through the school’s rules and regulations which also seeks to prepare them mentally and morally for the five months intensive course.
These courses are, cake making and decorating with sugar arts, balloon, ribbon and floral , décor arts, pastry and cookery arts. However the institute and its affiliate , the US industrial giant Wilton international have introduced a new course in cake making and decorating with sugar arts –The Wilton method which awards international certificate to successful applicants. The school runs three shifts, morning, afternoon , evening and also weekends classes to enable workers who may not have time for full time enrollment. EKGS being a house hold name in Ghana does not compromise on quality as quality forms part of the school’s readiness to provide excellent tuition and services to students and clients. The confectionery department also provides exceptional catering for all occasions, the good news is that the department delivered 12 giant wedding cakes at ago last year which according to the management was a sign of increased patronage of the company’s products by valued customers. EKGS is endowed with the strategy of continual training innovation which has effective learning facilities and well trained instructors who make the learning easy and exciting. The school since it’s inception ,ten years ago has trained over three thousand students of which some of them are currently applying their trade in abroad while others with reputable companies in Ghana. Addressing the students the Director and Founder of the institute Mrs Efua Goode-Arthur cautioned the new entrants against dream killers, indiscipline and others. She urged them to work hard to achieve their aim. She noted that the institute believes in perfection and for that matter her outfit will make sure that the students acquire the expected skills to enable them excel. Pastor Daniel Ohemeng, who doubles as motivational speaker advised the students to be confident and determined. He said with determination and self confidence they could overcome challenges that come their way. At EKGS, students are treated in a special way by given them the opportunity to work with variety of modern tools and equipment moderately sold by the retail outlet provided by the institute to ensure that students’ needs are satisfied during the course period. ‘Photos and Story: David Andoh - ekgsonline.net’ |
