| EKGS Introduces Refresher Courses |

EKGS Culinary institute in West Africa has been accredited by the USA industry giant- Wilton International to run Wilton courses and honor certificate to successful students. The Brush- up skills is an advanced refresher course which is specially designed for sugar arts professionals who want to upgrade their knowledge in sugar arts. Apart from the brush up skills the institute has special courses for beginners based on applicant’s area of interest in the sugar arts. To ensure quality training, the institute is using exclusive cake tools which are tailored made to suit the program. The introduction of both Wilton and brush -up methods of cake designing formed part of the institute’s vision to offer Ghanaians the opportunity to under go international sugar arts tuition on their own soil and also to help professional cake designers to stay ahead of global competition. The brush -up course seeks to help participants to progress in their already cake decorating profession. The first batch of participants successfully ended their brush up training on April 25, 2010 where they were presented with certificates and tool packages. The program which saw the director of the institute Mrs. Efua Goode-Arthur teaching through out along side her team of instructors brought together participants from financial institutions, hospitality industry and others. They were taking through some exiting topics such as Stylish application for spectacular wedding cakes, printing of Edible Photo Cakes, Exotic Designs with Rolling Pins and Borders Fantasy Side Designs, Tooless Rose basic and Advanced Fabric effect roses and Leaves, Butter Cream Flowers and to top it all, the free Cake Cup Fun course Some of the participants expressed their satisfaction after the program. According to them the course has taken them to the next level of their profession. The brush- up skills program which was initially scheduled to be held twice a year has now increased to 4 times due to the responses received by the institute from the general public. The program created an opportunity for both participants and instructors which was very beneficial according to some of the participants. In a brief statement, Mrs. Efua Goode-Arthur said the cake industry is dynamic and therefore every professional cake designer who want to remain in business should come for courses such as the brush -up skills and Wilton. Mrs. Arthur commended the participants for the seriousness and passion they showed throughout the period.
